19-20

It made me happy and sad when Ishmael left for his father’s house. I was happy because now he’d kind of have a way to kind of like regain all the childhood he had lost and he wouldn’t be like completely messed up for the rest of his life. I was sad because he would lose all of his friends that understood him and he would have no one to talk to even if he wanted to because he wouldn’t be able to since the other boys don’t know about him being a soldier.
When he got picked for the UN conference I wasn’t really sure what was going to happen because I basically knew he was not going to get it and he’d be really sad or he was going to get it and he would basically get kind of sad again because he would have to bring up all these memories of the war. I found it really kind of funny when he was just like those are a bunch of city boys, when really I don’t think he knows if they’re city boys or not. Yes, some of them could’ve been city boys but most likely not ALL of them were city boys
I was mainly just glad that he had functioning friendships, and he had a good time overall.
