17-18

I really liked how Esther gave him rap music so she could do the examination of him. I thought that this was really smart and creative because she basically is making him talk to her in a way because she’s like you can only listen to it when you come in here. So basically he’d come in and then she could give him a check-up.
I found it really sweet when that social worker guy went and found his uncle even when he really didn’t have that much information to go on in the first place. What I’m kind of wondering though, is why didn’t they ask Ishmael if he knew like where his parents were, or if he knew they were dead or anything like that, because I think that the way that the social worker brought it up might have made him sad. I think it would’ve made him sad because it would bring up the memories of his father.
When the uncle came I was so happy. I mean yes, it’s understandable that it might’ve been a little awkward at first because he’s never really seen the guy or even really heard about him other than the stories that his father told him about his childhood. I think that it was good that Ishmael got to hear all these stories about his father when he was younger, but also it seems like it’d make him sad because he’d have to remember before the war, which would make him remember what happened to his family, which is really sad.
